Ethiopia represents one of the most undeveloped markets in our portfolio as it enters the digital age.

It is Africa’s second most populous country (population 91.73 million) yet has the second lowest internet penetration rate in sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2010, The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) ranked Ethiopia 154 out of 159 countries surveyed in terms of access to information and communication technology. State-owned Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) is the sole Internet service provider (ISP) in the country.

However the telecoms sector is growing, mobile penetration is accelerating and internet / social networking popularity is rising fast.
