Millicom’s online business team is taking new products and services to millions of new customers and to different markets that fall outside our mobile telecommunications footprint. We are more convinced than ever about the potential for online services in Africa to grow strongly and leapfrog traditional retail.

The Gambia economy's recovery in agriculture and gains in tourism supported GDP growth in 2012 and 2013 with more than seven per cent growth in real GDP forecast in 2014 according to African Economic Outlook.

Mobile penetration has reached 100 per cent, well above the average for Africa, with access to international fibre bandwidth. Four competitor mobile networks currently operate here. All have rolled out 3G connectivity with 4G launched in 2012.
