Morocco

Millicom’s e-commerce business team is taking new products and services to millions of new customers and to different markets that fall outside our mobile telecommunications footprint. We are more convinced than ever about the potential for online services in Africa to grow strongly and leapfrog traditional retail.

Morocco’s e-Commerce industry reached 58 million US dollars in 2011, reaching over 100,000 customers, and grew an additional 45 per cent in 2012.

More than half of Morocco’s 32.5 million people are internet users, and ten million have credit cards, so e-Commerce has large growth potential moving forward. Popular purchases in Morocco are daily deals and travel.

The culture of e-Commerce is spreading throughout the country, with an established National Federation of e-Commerce in Morocco (FNEM) and a new trade fair created in 2012 called e-Commerce Maroc.
