Millicom’s e-commerce business team is taking new products and services to millions of new customers and to different markets that fall outside our mobile telecommunications footprint. We are more convinced than ever about the potential for online services in Africa to grow strongly and leapfrog traditional retail.

Zambia has had a decade of rapid economic growth with an average annual growth of about 6.4 per cent. Though the economy is dependent on copper, the agriculture sector is the major employer (70 per cent  of the population). However, the sector’s potential to contribute to the country’s development remains largely underexploited.

Real GDP growth is projected to increase to 7.1 per cent and 7.4 per cent in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Infrastructure investment, especially in mining, power generation and roads, will ensure that growth remains robust.
