Message from our CEO Mauricio Ramos
“I'm happy to be a small part of our great Tigo company that has led to the adoption of digital lifestyles in all of our markets.”
Milestones throughout our history
2020
Millicom, a leading provider of cable and mobile services operating as TIGO in Latin America, celebrates 30 years bringing connectivity where it is most needed. Because building networks creates possibilities, and innovation bets on growth.
2020
The COVID-19 pandemic hits all TIGO markets and HQ. TIGO works with governments to provide zero-rating Internet and lifeline products, while TIGO Money becomes a key enabler of government subsidies.
2019
Millicom acquired subsidiaries of Telefónica in Central America — in Panama and Nicaragua —
further establishing its leadership across the region and aligning with a fixed-mobile convergence
strategy. Millicom further diversified itself and balanced its geographic footprint.
2019
The company invested in 12 datacenters throughout Latin America. Eight of these datacenters are certified according to international standards (seven by the Uptime Institute and one by ICREA International).
2019
Millicom common shares start trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market in the U.S. under ticker symbol TIGO. The new listing complements the company's existing Swedish Depository Receipt (SDR) listing on Nasdaq Stockholm, where the ticker also changes to TIGO_SDB

Millicom acquired Cable Onda and kicks off its presence in Panama.
2017

2017
TIGO is ranked (for the first time) among the top 25 multinational companies to work for in Latin America, across all industries, obtaining the 20th place in the 2017 Great Place to Work (GPTW) survey. TIGO will continue to be ranked in the top 25 for the next three years.
2014
TIGO, UNE and EPM came together to create a strong alliance, introducing an exciting telecommunications and media business to provide new choices for the people of Colombia. Including a wide range of services, such as mobile and fixed Internet and telephone, television and digital products, the services benefitted millions of households.
2014
Millicom partnered with UNICEF to protect children's rights. The partnership is later renewed to cover child online protection, becoming even stronger in 2020 as virtual education gains prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
