Mr. James Thompson was first elected to the Board of Millicom in January 2019. He is a member of the Audit Committee and the Compensation Committee.
James Thompson (1961) is a US citizen and currently a Managing Principal at Kingfisher Family Office, where he manages a portfolio focused on value-oriented investment strategies. He is also a Non-Executive Director of C&C Group plc and serves on its Audit Committee. Previously, James was a Managing Principal at Southeastern Asset Management, where he was responsible for the operations of the firm and was a senior member of the investment team that was responsible for firm-wide investment decisions. Between 2001 and 2006, James opened and managed Southeastern Asset Management’s London research office. James holds an MBA from Darden School at the University of Virginia and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina.
Mr. Thompson brings to the Millicom Board his extensive experience from investment management and will contribute significantly to the Board’s discussions on Millicom’s long-term strategy and capital allocation.
He qualifies as independent of major shareholders as well as the Company and its management according to the Swedish Code of Corporate Governance, and relevant rules of the Nasdaq Stock Market.
Mr. Thompson and his closely related persons hold 15,566 Millicom shares.
